PME at ICME10
The aims of PME are to promote international contact about the Psychology of Mathematics Education, to promote interdisciplinary research and to deepen an understanding of the psychology of teaching and learning of mathematics. It is our desire to foster these aims by bringing the existence and more importantly the work of PME members to the attention of a wider audience. PME has a rich history and a prolific archive of research, of which many outside the PME community may not be aware. ICME10 Congress Programme have 4 one hour slots for presenting PME research work to ICME participants.

For ICME10, four key areas of PME research and theoretical base were chosen as exemplars of PME contribution to knowledge and its work as a collaborative community. In each of these four areas, a member or members of PME were asked to present a review of PME research. The following are the area headings, and the presenters:

Monday 5th – ASG I
Children’s Early Mathematical Development.

The Influence of Social Context on the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics.

Saturday 10th – ASG III (16.30-17.30)
The Development of Algebraic Thinking and Symbolization.

Saturday 10th – ASG III (17.30-18.30)
The Impact of New Technologies upon Pedagogy in Mathematics Education.
Ricardo Nemorovski (Coordinator), USA; Chronis Kynigos, Greece; Michal Yerushalmy, Israel; Ornella Robutti, Italy; Dave Pratt, United Kingdom & Francesca Ferrara, Italy.

Each of these reviews is planned to take the form of a 40-minute presentation with up to 20 minutes of questions and discussion.
